By Marija Ilic

Barbour County is gearing up for Saturday of exciting festivities on both ends of the county. Philippi will be a host to a car show, while Belington will welcome visitors for their third annual Sweet Treats Festival.

Meet up in the Mountains car show will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Museum Street, is a prequel to an annual Lowered on the Lawn show which will take place on August 24, and is expected to feature more than 200 vehicles and dozens of vendors from all over the country. The show this Saturday will be smaller affair, with expected 30-40 vehicles, and will be opportunity for car enthusiasts to hang out and enjoy a projected sunny afternoon. Proceeds from both shows will benefit Barbour County Animal Friends. For more information, check out www.loweredonthelawn.com, or check out the Facebook page.

While the car show will be happening in Philippi, Belington will be a site to the much anticipated third annual Sweet Treats festival, that will take place from Noon to 7 p.m. There will be plenty of family oriented activities, including free bouncy houses from 1-6 p.m., two magic shows on Town Square at 2 and 5 p.m., K9 presentation at 3 p.m., and Children’s Museum exhibits from Noon to 4 p.m.

Donut eating contest will take place at Town Square at 4 p.m., and cake walk will be at 6 p.m. The evening will conclude with the performance of Full Cirkle Band at 7 p.m.

Saturday is sure to bring a lot of visitors to our county, both in Philippi and Belington, so grab your friends and family, and enjoy the festivities!
