Memorial Day is upon us, and volunteers are needed at two different locations to help with flag raising.
Belington Community will be erecting American Flags at Fraternal Cemetery on Saturday, May 25 at 8 a.m. on Fraternal Cemetery Road just north of Belington off US 250. Help is needed by the American Legion, VFW, and other organizations to put up the large flags around the cemetery. Call 304-614-7510 for questions or information. The flag will be taken down on June 1, and more information will be provided on Saturday.
Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery on 119 South is also in need of volunteers on Friday, May 24 at 8 a.m. The flags will be taken down the following week at the time that will be announced later.
As for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, Post and Auxiliary 410 has to announce that it will not be held this year at the Fraternal Cemetery in Belington. They are hoping that the ceremony will be able to continue next year.
