Rotary Club Inaugurated In Barbour County

As if the joy of the holiday season wasn’t already evident in and around the local community, Barbour County became even more blessed with the introduction of its brand new Rotary Club, now one of over 36,000 just like it worldwide.

On November 22, Rotary International granted an application submitted by local citizens to create a new Rotary Club designed to help further serve and support Barbour County communities. As a result, representatives of five different Clubs from within District 7545 came together at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi and enjoyed a New Club Celebration, at which time the new Club was presented with its charter certificate and its founding members were officially inducted into the ranks of Rotary. Now, acting as a satellite of its neighboring host, the Rotary Club of Grafton, this new group will begin assembling twice per month to explore and carry out how the residents of the various Barbour County communities will help make each one of them stronger and better in countless ways.

Pictured are founding members Ed Larry, Kim Lewis, Brian Matko, Secretary Julie Spriggs, and Chair Hunter B. Mullens, who were able to attend the occasion and be inducted by members of the host Rotary Club of Grafton, assisted by Past District 7545 Governor and current District Membership Chair, Sean Sawyer, and Area V Governor and Grafton Rotarian, Sam McDaniel (founding members Mike Cvechko, Andrew Phillips, Jennifer Whetzel, and Janice White not pictured as unable to attend).

Anyone interested in attending the next group session of the membership is welcome at the Medallion Restaurant at 5:30 on January 11, 2024. Any questions in the meantime can be sent to Hunter Mullens via email/phone at information@mullensandmullens.com or 304-457-9000.
