Planned Power Outage Cancelled

The residents of Philippi were left in the state of confusion as two conflicting reports circulated on social media last week. The official City of Philippi page stated that MonPower has scheduled the planned power outage for the purpose of maintenance on Monday, October 28, 2024. The outage was supposed to last from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

However, Barbour County Clerk of Commission office received the notice that due to early voting in 2024 election is starting on October 23, MonPower has cancelled the outage, as no power can be turned off during the election time.

On Monday morning, the staff of The Barbour Democrat confirmed with MonPower that the outage is indeed cancelled, and as of now, no rescheduling date has been set.
