"'Maybe Christmas,' he thought, 'doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas . . . perhaps . . . means a little bit more!'" (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, by Dr. Seuss. 1957)

On Thursday, December 14, 2023, doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at the 17 North Event Center, 17 North Main Street, in Philippi, for PJs & Pancakes with the Grinch. The holiday program and meal will be approximately two hours. Proceeds will go toward the expenses of the event. The Philippi Public Library, Philippi Main Street, Create Philippi, and 17 North Event Center are co-sponsoring the holiday program.

The audience will find their hearts grow three sizes along with the Grinch as they experience the magic of Christmas throughout the evening and a Who-ville-inspired dinner. This is a one-of-a-kind interactive family fun-filled and dining experience. It will include a pancake dinner of green Grinch Pancakes, Max sausage links, Cindy Lou Who Fruit Cups, and some Who-ville juice and coffee. The holiday program will also include the beloved story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, by Dr. Seuss, some favorite Who-ville and Christmas songs, photo props, crafts, and more. Each child will enter a drawing for some Grinch-inspired door prizes and all children will receive a Grinch goody bag, a Grinch candy cane, and a Christmas book. Children will craft a keepsake Grinch ornament and bell to take home.

Children will also be treated to a visit from the Grinch who will be available for photo opportunities. Parents are encouraged to take pictures and children and adults are encouraged to dress in pajamas or Christmas attire.

Space is limited and sponsors believe they will fill quickly. All guests must register by calling the Philippi Public Library at 304-457-3495 before December 1, 2023. An adult must accompany the children. Guests will pay by cash or check payable to Philippi Main Street at the door on the night of the event. Call the library for additional information.
