Pancake Supper At Garden Market

A Pancake Supper will be held at The Garden Market on Shrove Tuesday, February 13, from 4-7 p.m. The supper features all you can eat pancakes and buckwheat cakes with Preston County sausage and a drink.

This fund-raising event benefits the Heart and Hand House school backpack feeding program which serves all elementary and middle schools in the county. Each week, about 400 Barbour County students receive a pack of child-friendly, healthy food to take home before school dismisses for the weekend or holiday break. This program has been serving county children for several years. The funds for this ministry are provided through generous donations from local churches, individuals, grants, and fund-raising events. This is just one of the nutrition programs of Heart and Hand House.

The Barbour County Cooperative Community Ministry (Parish) of the United Methodist Church has plans for a summer activity for Barbour County youth. The free activity will be open to all youth, K-8, regardless of church affiliation. The day campers will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. The focus of this summer activity is on faith, friendship, and fun. More information, including a date, will be coming. Again, this project is funded through donations and fundraising events like this pancake supper.

The supper is being held at the Garden Market on Main Street in Philippi. It is eat in or carry out.
