Lions Club Visits Junior Elementary

junior lions club mascot on veteran's day

The Junior Lions Club is a big supporter of our veterans. They helped educate local students on the importance of Veterans Day and what it means. The Junior Lions Club came to Junior Elementary School on Thursday, November 9.

They enjoyed the Thanksgiving Feast the school was having for the students, and their families. After the feast, Nancy Burner-Ware and Ted Ware put on a presentation for the students. They explained how Veterans Day came about and the importance of this day to the students. They passed out a comic book to all of the students and family members as well.

On Saturday, November 11, the Junior Lions Club hitched up their hay wagon to the tractor and participated in the Veterans Day parade in Belington. George Charnoplosky, Steve Cross, Joey Ware, and Gerald Cline were the veterans who rode the wagon along with Forest Festival Queen Sylvia Anna Ruf, and Forest Festival princesses Shelby Smith and Carly Cvechko.

The tractor was driven by Jake Ogden. Lions Club members walked in front of the wagon and passed out candy. Lion Jimmie Tallman was in the spirit and wore a blown up lion through the parade. The Junior Lions Club wants to recognize the veterans, Queen Sylvia and the princesses along with Jake Ogden. We appreciate you for your time and effort for participating in the parade. The Junior Lions Club also wants to give a recognition to the students and staff at Junior Elementary School for inviting them to speak at the school. These students were the best audience for Ted and Nancy Ware.
