Car enthusiasts are gearing up for a massive weekend of excitement as Philippi plays host to the "Lowered on the Lawn" international car show this Saturday, August 24, 2024. Taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the courthouse lawn, the event is set to bring together unique vehicles and car enthusiasts from across 12 states and Canada. This impressive display is expected to draw hundreds of visitors to downtown.
Featuring a wide array of custom cars, "Lowered on the Lawn" promises a thrilling day for all attendees. The event will spotlight vehicles displayed on six platforms, with top honors awarded to the finest machines. The judging will recognize the "Top 20" vehicles, along with special "Vendor Awards," offering recognition for the best builds and creativity on display.
In addition to the car show, the event will have automotive vendors, a raffle, and a variety of food trucks and concessions for visitors to enjoy. The show’s proceeds will benefit the Animal Friends of Barbour County.
Those interested in participating in the car show can still register online at loweredonthelawn.com. Close to 200 vehicles have already been pre-registered. Main Street will be closed around the courthouse area, but the visitors will still be able to access side parking lots from Walnut and Railroad Streets. Detour signs will be displayed to ensure that traffic can still make it through downtown.
For a full weekend experience, car enthusiasts can enjoy various events starting on Thursday, August 22, with an Early Bird Meet from 7-9 p.m. on Main Street. On Friday, August 23, the ECS Tuning Meet & Greet will take place at noon, followed by the official pre-meet hosted by Steel City at 7 p.m. on Barbour County Highway. Saturday’s main event will feature the show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with awards and a raffle scheduled for 3 p.m. Later that day, participants can join the Cruise to Cool Springs, presented by Back Roads of Appalachia, and cap off the evening with a post-show campfire hangout from 7-10 p.m. on Main Street.
The weekend festivities will conclude on Sunday, August 25, with a relaxed "Lowered on the Lawn Cars & Coffee" meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Pike Street.
With beautiful cars, great food, and a charitable mission, Philippi is the place to be this weekend for anyone who loves the automotive scene.
