Preparations are now being finalized for this year’s Independence Day celebration, set to take place this Saturday, June 29, at the Barbour County Fairgrounds. Hosted by the Barbour County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS), the event promises a day filled with family fun, entertainment, and fireworks.
The day’s festivities will kick off early with an ATV Race starting at 8 a.m., sponsored by the Barbour County Fairboard. For further details about the race, interested parties can contact the organizers at 304-823-1328.
From 10 a.m., a variety of vendors will set up shop, offering an array of goods and crafts until dusk. The vendors are sponsored by Barbour County CEOS, and any inquiries can be directed to barbourceos@gmail.com.
At 11 a.m., food vendors will begin serving up delicious treats. With offerings from Strutters Baton, Lion’s Club, the 4H Food Stand, Milica’s Milkshakes, Traveling Dawgz, Wonder Bubble, Rex Calzones, Daddy T’s Smokin BBQ, and Fawcett’s Funnel Cakes, there will be something to satisfy every palate.
For those looking for some friendly competition, yard games will commence at noon, sponsored by Molly’s Ice Cream. This is a great way for families and friends to engage in some light-hearted fun while enjoying the beautiful summer weather.
Music lovers are in for a treat starting at 3 p.m., as the fairgrounds will come alive with live performances. The music lineup includes: 3 p.m. - Beyond the Barrier featuring Cody Maxwell; 5 p.m. - Full Cirkle; and 7 p.m. - Flashback with John Ziggy Hall.
As the sun sets, the sky over Barbour County Fairgrounds will light up with a spectacular fireworks display – a perfect ending for a day of celebration.
