The Philip Barbour High School will be hosting a special event on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., offering a wide array of resources and opportunities for students and families. This event will take place at the school located at 99 Horseshoe Drive, Philippi, WV 26416.
The event, which is being held in conjunction with the Parent-Teacher Conferences, aims to provide students and their families with crucial information on services and opportunities available beyond high school. This is not limited to high school seniors; even underclassmen and their families are encouraged to attend and explore the local resources available for future endeavors.
A One-Stop Showcase of Opportunities
From 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Commons area, just beyond the main entrance, will come alive with representatives from colleges, businesses, military branches, and various organizations. The event features an extensive lineup of colleges and programs, including welding, cosmetology, drafting, industrial maintenance, music, nursing, plumbing, and more.
One of the standout features of this event is the provision of free services for attendees. Students can receive free haircuts while everyone can enjoy complimentary food throughout the event. Additionally, the event offers a unique opportunity for free shopping in room D139. Visitors can explore a wide variety of items, including clothing, shoes, coats, hygiene products, and miscellaneous items. The United States Marine Corps will be on-site with a chin-up bar challenge for those looking to test their strength. Students and families are encouraged to see if they have what it takes.
Transportation and More
For those who may require transportation to and from the event, New Vision is offering a van for this purpose. To arrange transportation, attendees can contact Ruston Seaman with New Vision at 304-669-2191 at least 24 hours in advance. Alongside the main event, workshops will be held in separate rooms, providing valuable insights and information. Moreover, a thrift store located in room D139 will be stocked with clothing, coats, shoes, hygiene products, and more for attendees to explore.
