Exciting Saturday Ahead: Barbour County's Jam-Packed Schedule Of Fun!

Updated: Oct 20, 2023

Get ready, folks, because this Saturday is going to be an absolute blast as Barbour County comes alive with a whirlwind of events from sunrise to starlight. With something for everyone, this weekend promises a non-stop celebration of community spirit, music, delicious treats, and spooky thrills. So, mark your calendars and grab your friends and family for a memorable weekend in the heart of West Virginia!

Kicking off the day with a bang is the highly anticipated WV Marching Band Invitational at Philip Barbour High School. From 10 a.m. till almost 10 p.m., thousands of music enthusiasts from across the state will gather to witness the incredible talent of marching bands. It's a day filled with mesmerizing performances and high-energy entertainment. Check out the full schedule at the end of this article! Philip Barbour is slated to compete at 7:30 p.m.

But that's not all! The fun extends beyond the music, with the Tractor Supply parking lot transforming into a haven for vendors and crafters, offering you the chance to shop and explore some unique finds at the Oktober Fest. So, come hungry and ready to shop 'til you drop!

Make sure you don't miss the 38th annual Mt. Liberty Festival running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This beloved event boasts everything you'd expect from a small community fair, and more! With music and food galore, the pièce de résistance is their legendary apple butter. Be sure to arrive early, as this sweet treat tends to disappear faster than a ghost on Halloween night!

Meanwhile, in Philippi, Winnie's Attic will unveil their popular pop-up shop event from 12-4 p.m., ensuring a delightful shopping experience for all. And if you're more of a bookworm, the Philippi Public Library will have their book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering literary treasures for all ages.

As the day goes on, the fun doesn't stop. Head over to Talbott Community Building at 7 p.m. for the Halloween Cakewalk, where you can strut your stuff and win some delicious goodies! Meanwhile, over at Audra, the Fourth Annual Trunk or Treat promises an afternoon of Halloween thrills, starting at 2:30 p.m. with a spine-tingling Halloween Display, followed by a Costume Contest, the announcement of the Pumpkin Court, and the much-anticipated trunk or treat, beginning at 6 p.m. Make sure you arrive early to secure the best treats!

And if you find yourself near Belington, don't forget to stop by the PBHS Career Tech Center HOSA group's Bucket Drive near the Golden Rule Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Your pocket change will go a long way in supporting these young, motivated individuals as they raise funds for their journey to the National Leadership Conference in June, all the way in Texas. Let's cheer them on as they work towards their goals!

Belington Elementary School is also having their Fall Carnival from 5-7 p.m., with Full Cirkle performing - it is bound to be a night of unforgettable fun!

So, whether you're a fan of music, shopping, delicious food, or Halloween fun, Barbour County has got you covered this weekend. From dawn 'til dusk, it's a celebration you won't want to miss. Gather your friends and family and embrace the fantastic events that are set to light up the county.
