Cosmic Realms Con Brings Sci-Fi, Fantasy, And Creativity To Philippi This January

Mark your calendars for an out-of-this-world event! Cosmic Realms Con, a brand-new sci-fi and fantasy convention, is set to take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Heiner Hall on Battlers Knob, the former Alderson Broaddus University. This all-day event is designed to celebrate creativity, community, and the diverse genres of science fiction, fantasy, and everything in between.

Whether you're a die-hard fan or new to the realms of fiction, there’s something for everyone:

Artist Alley & Vendor Room: Explore a diverse marketplace featuring indie authors, fan artists, and artisans specializing in sci-fi, fantasy, horror, steampunk, supernatural, and more.

Interactive Panels: Join discussions and workshops on topics like AI ethics in writing, beginner-friendly cosplay, cryptid encounters featuring podcasters Main Corpse, and using Dungeons & Dragons in education.

Gaming Center: Jump into tabletop game demos and organized play put together by The Gryphon's Nest from Bridgeport!

Kids Zone: A family-friendly space offering crafts and activities curated by local art shops Mycelium and Thistlebit from Elkins.

Art Gallery: iNFAMOUS Art Collective from Buckhannon will be on site and will be organizing the art gallery.

Filk Music Circle: A collaborative space for musicians and singers to share their love of sci-fi and fantasy through song. Wish Awake will be headlining this section of the event.

Quiet Room: A sensory-friendly zone for those who need a break from the excitement.

Masquerade Ball: The day concludes with a spectacular masquerade featuring live performances by Black Hole Zion, Heliosphere, and Take Me With You. Attendees are invited to dress in sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, or supernatural-themed costumes to make the night unforgettable!

“We want Cosmic Realms Con to be a celebration of creativity and community,” says event organizer Gretch Corley of Artefaktual Comics. “This is more than just a convention—it’s a place for people to meet, connect, and share their passion for these genres. And I can't stress enough, we couldn't have done this by ourselves. We're beyond appreciative of the other businesses and artists that have pulled together across counties to help make this possible.”

Tickets are on sale now, with special discounts available for early purchases. Combination tickets for the convention and masquerade offer the best value for attendees looking to experience the full day of activities.

Cosmic Realms Con is still currently accepting applications for artists, crafters, and authors. Volunteers are also needed to help run the event. Each volunteer will work a minimum of one three-hour shift and receive exclusive perks, including complimentary passes and preferred seating for panels.
