Commemorating 50 Years of Service: Deacon A. Ray Shaw III

On October 18, 2024, the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston will celebrate the 50th anniversary of A. Ray Shaw III’s ordination to the Order of Deacon. This milestone marks half a century since his ordination at St. Augustine Church in Grafton, WV, in 1974.

In honor of this significant occasion, a reception and light breakfast will be held at St. Elizabeth Church in Philippi on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The gathering will take place from 9 to 10:45 a.m., followed by Ecumenical Morning Prayer at 11 a.m. The event is open to all those who wish to celebrate Deacon Shaw’s service to the Church.

As part of this celebration, Deacon Shaw will serve as the Assisting Deacon during several upcoming Eucharistic celebrations:

St. Augustine Church, Grafton: Saturday, October 19 at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 20 at 9 a.m.

St. Elizabeth Church, Philippi: Sunday, October 20 at 10:45 a.m.

St. Agnes Church, Shepherdstown: Saturday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 3 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
