Blue And Grey Community Choir Rehearsals To Begin On Sunday, March 10

The Blue and Grey Community Choir will begin rehearsing on Sunday March 10, 2024, at 3 p.m. in preparation for its performance on Saturday June 1, 2024, as part of the annual Blue and Grey Reunion. Rehearsals are held at Philippi Baptist Church (Church street on the courthouse square) and continue on a weekly basis (except for Easter Sunday, March 31) until the performance. Normal rehearsal times are Sunday afternoons from 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday evening rehearsals (7-8 p.m.) will begin on March 31.

Mr. Lewis Hall (Choir Director at PBHS) will continue as the director this year. Mr. Hall and accompanists Mrs. Michelle Moore and Carol Isner invite all interested adult (high school age and more seasoned veterans) singers to join the group. This group is not auditioned, and singers do not need to be formally trained, have “soloist” voices, or even be proficient music readers. All choir members should be able to carry a musical part and learn music easily. All music is provided without cost to participants.

“The tradition of good music making and camaraderie has been a highlight of the Blue and Grey Reunion and a “bright light” for the Philippi community for many years. I am looking forward to working with this group and continuing its important tradition,” says Hall.
