The City of Belington came alive last week as residents and visitors gathered to celebrate the annual Homecoming Parade, an event that brought the community together in a display of hometown pride. With a large turnout and a flurry of activities, this year's festivities were nothing short of spectacular.
The evening's excitement began with the Homecoming Parade, which saw enthusiastic participation from various community groups, schools, and local organizations. Marching bands, floats, and lively performances filled the streets with joy and excitement.
Following the parade, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 410 hosted a magnificent bonfire that warmed the hearts of attendees on a chilly evening. The VFW 410's bonfire was a symbol of camaraderie, bringing together veterans and the community at large. Over 300 people gathered around the roaring flames, reveling in the togetherness that the event brought.
The event's success was made possible by the tireless efforts of various local organizations. The Junior Lions Club played a crucial role
by cooking and serving delicious food to the hungry crowd. Their efforts were supported by generous donations from Belington Shop N Save and the PB Athletic Boosters, which ensured that everyone had access to hot, satisfying meals.
This year, Katie Kennedy was named Homecoming Queen.
Following the tradition of alternating, next year's parade will be held in the City of Philippi.
