Belington Celebrates Tradition At Third Annual Old Fashioned Days

By Marija Ilic

The charm of yesteryear will once again sweep through the streets of Belington this weekend as the town prepares for its third annual Old Fashioned Days celebration on Saturday, September 21.

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., vendors will line the streets, offering a variety of goods and delicious food, reminiscent of the simpler times when town gatherings were the highlight of the social calendar. There will be attractions for all ages, including bouncy houses, horse and buggy rides, and even apple butter churning.

The day kicks off at 10 a.m. with a classic car show that will continue until 3 p.m. Lovers of farm life can enjoy the tractor show from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while treasure hunters can join in on a scavenger hunt at noon. A pet show follows at 2 p.m.

One of the highlights will be the town parade, set to begin at 3 p.m. Following the parade, there will be a cake walk at 4 p.m. and an auction at 5 p.m., offering unique items and fun bidding opportunities for all attendees.

As the day draws to a close, live entertainment will take center stage with the local band “Electric Blue” performing at 6:30 p.m., providing the perfect backdrop for a summer evening in small-town America.

The festivities start a day early with a karaoke contest on Friday, September 20, at 6 p.m., offering cash prizes. With a nominal entry fee, it’s a great opportunity for aspiring singers to showcase their talents.

The event is free to attend, with certain activities like the horse and buggy rides, ice cream stands, and vendor stalls sure to entice attendees to indulge in some old-fashioned fun.
