Barbour County Run For It Teams Need You To Help Make A Difference!



Barbour County teams are vying for more than $70,000 in Run For It awards, along with teams from Grant, Mineral, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, and Tucker Counties in West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland. Run For It is a 2k walk and 5k race hosted by the Tucker Community Foundation. The race will start at 11 a.m. on September 28, 2024, in Davis, WV, in conjunction with the annual Leaf Peepers Festival.


Total of 74 teams will participate, raising funds for causes in the mentioned counties. Barbour County residents can support their favorite teams by entering the race as participants on a team or by submitting team sponsor donations to as many teams as they wish. Since 2007, Barbour County teams have brought home $402,911 in awards and team sponsor donations to their respective causes.


This year, five teams from Barbour County are participating in Run For It: Barbour Team Health, Belington Public Library Bookaneers, Freedom Marchers, Phillipi Public Library Bookworms, and Running for Rotary.

You can register online until September 21 or in person at the Davis Fire Hall, 610 William Avenue, Davis, WV 26260, on Friday, September 27, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 28, from 8-9:30 a.m. Team sponsor donations can also be mailed to the Tucker Community Foundation at TCF-RFI, P.O. Box 491, Parsons, WV 26287. All team sponsor donations must be submitted and postmarked by September 9.


For the past 16 years, Run For It has attracted serious racers and families to our area and supported local businesses. In 2023, the event drew 1,389 walkers and runners, raising $287,595. These funds have been instrumental in supporting 79 non-profit organizations and groups in the Potomac Highlands and beyond, a testament to our community's strength and resilience!
