The 2024 edition of the now-annual Barbour County Community Christmas Concert with be presented this coming Saturday, December 7, at Philippi Baptist Church (on Church Street, across from the Barbour County Courthouse). The concert begins at 4 p.m. As was the case for the previous Community Christmas Concerts, this year’s event will present both sacred and secular Christmas and seasonal music. The music represents a wide variety of styles and will appeal to persons of many different musical preferences. There will be no admission charge; concert patrons will be able to make freewill donations which will be used to help defray the costs of the production.
A number of musical groups will perform, including the worship ensemble from Haven of Hope Worship Center, the Gathered Voices group, the Colt Chords from Philip Barbour High School under the direction of Mr. Lewis Hall, and a community choir conducted by Dr. Judson Bracey, who also serves as the coordinator of the event. Expert organist Dr. Lillian Long will perform a Christmas selection. The audience will also have the opportunity to participate in singing of familiar Christmas carols and songs accompanied by Dr. Long and Choir pianist Mrs. Michele Moore.
Come and have your Christmas spirits lifted as your friends and neighbors present their offerings in song.
