As the season approaches, Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) is proud to announce the commencement of its annual initiative to support the health and well-being of local student athletes. From May 1 through August 30, 2024, all BCHA locations, including the Belington Medical Clinic, Myers Clinic, and both Barbour Quick Care locations, will be providing free sports physicals for all Barbour County students.
The initiative aims to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the upcoming sports or band season by offering comprehensive physical examinations, conducted by qualified healthcare professionals. These physicals play a crucial role in identifying any underlying health issues and ensuring that students are in optimal condition to perform at their best.
"We are delighted to offer this service to our community," said Eric Ruf, CEO at BCHA. "Ensuring the health and safety of our student athletes is paramount, and these free sports physicals provide an excellent opportunity for them to receive the necessary medical clearance before starting their activity in the fall.
Students interested in participating are encouraged to bring their physical forms with them to expedite the process. Physical forms can be obtained from their school Athletic Director. By completing the necessary paperwork beforehand, athletes can streamline their experience and make the most of this valuable opportunity.
"We understand the importance of convenience and accessibility," added Ruf. "By partnering with schools and providing these free physicals, we hope to remove any barriers that might prevent student athletes from getting the medical clearance they need."
BCHA is committed to promoting the health and well-being of the community, and initiatives like free sports physicals underscore this dedication. By offering these services, they not only support the athletes but also contribute to the overall health and vitality of the community.
