Are you ready to transform into your favorite characters and showcase your creative costume-making skills? Get ready for a spooktacular time at Artefaktual Comics and Games' Costume Contest, set to be a highlight of the Trick-Or-Read event on Sunday, October 29th. This exciting contest is open to participants of all ages, making it a fantastic opportunity for individuals and families to come together in the spirit of Halloween fun.
Contest Guidelines:
1. Eligibility:
No matter your age, everyone is welcome to participate in the Artefaktual Costume Contest. To ensure a fair competition, we have specific categories for different age groups:
Best Duo Costumes (Ages 0 - 10)
Most Original Costume (Ages 11 - 17)
Scariest Costume (Ages 18 and up)
2. Registration:
To enter the contest, simply register at the event registration booth between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM on the day of the event. Registration is completely free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to secure your spot early!
3. Costume Requirements:
We encourage contestants to let their creativity shine by crafting homemade or uniquely assembled costumes. Your costume should reflect your passion and creativity. During the judging process, participants (or their parent/guardian) will have the opportunity to provide a brief description of their costume and the character they are portraying.
4. Props and Accessories:
Feel free to enhance your costume with props and accessories, but please keep safety in mind. Props and accessories must be made of soft materials (such as cloth, foam, or rubber) and should not pose any danger to participants or others.
5. Age Categories:
To ensure a level playing field, contestants will be divided into three age categories: 0 - 10, 11 - 17, and 18 and up. Participants should choose the appropriate category based on their age as of October 2023.
6. Judging Criteria:
Our panel of expert judges will evaluate costumes based on various criteria, including creativity, craftsmanship, accuracy, presentation, and adherence to the category's theme. Please note that the decision of the judges is final.
7. Announcement of Winners:
The moment you've all been waiting for! The winners will be announced at 6:00 PM at the close of the Trick-Or-Read event. Make sure you're present to claim your well-deserved recognition.
8. Prizes:
What's a contest without exciting prizes? We have a fantastic lineup of prizes for the top costume in each age category:
Ages 0-10: Prepare for a bounty of tricks and treats for two!
Ages 11-17: Win a $25 gift certificate to your choice of Artefaktual, The Yarn Basket, or Mountain State Quilting to continue your artistic pursuits with local businesses!
Ages 18+: Celebrate your victory with a $50 gift certificate to the Philippi restaurant of your choice.
