Adaland Mansion Celebrates With Open House, Christmas Dinner

During last year’s Christmas Open House, Santa greeted visitors to Santa’s Gift Shop. This year’s Open House will still feature lots of gift items and maybe the jolly old man. Adaland Mansion’s Christmas Open House and Santa’s Gift Shop and Bake Shop, free to the public, are Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the historic home decorated in Christmas finery.

“With December upon us, we at Adaland know our lovingly restored 1870 house, now regal in her Christmas finery, is ready to greet guests at our final holiday events for the 2024 season,” says an Adaland spokesperson.

On Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests are invited to the all-day free Christmas Open House and Santa Gift Shop/Bake Sale. Visitors to the house will find all three floors of the house outfitted in thematically- decorated Christmas trees, velvet bows, sparkling Christmas bulbs, twinkling lights, green garland, and special decorative pieces.

Additionally, small gifts are available for purchase in Santa’s Gift Shop and delectable sweets baked for this special day are available in Santa’s Bake Shop. Both the Gift Shop and the Bake Shop promise to offer irresistible selections for guests.

Adaland has been inviting guests to this Open House for years as a special gift to the community. It’s Adaland Mansion’s way of saying “Thank you!” to the community for supporting this historical gem since its doors opened to the public in 1999.

Adaland’s annual Christmas Buffet Dinner will be spread out on the formal dining room’s long table on Sunday, December 8 and Sunday, December 15. Guests to this favorite event will find that dining room table laden with buttered turkey, turkey stuffing, gravy, raisin roasted ham, buttered carrots, green beans, cabbage-n-noodles, coleslaw, homemade rolls and breads, plus a large variety of cakes and pies for dessert. Guests always find veteran cook Lucy Williamson’s “down home cooking” the perfect way to celebrate the holiday.
